Me at the Edge of My Skin (part 2 of 2)
Me at the Edge of My Skin (Part 2 of 2)
Surrealism after Andre Breton
Me with the neck of a fitted white glove
a swan straining to see the truth
Me with the shoulders of metal hangers
the spine of a shutter door
the spine of a ladder extending
into a burning building
Me with a spine advertising calcium
nipples of worn erasers
breasts the backside of spoons
stomach the slight wave in a kiddie pool
and hips the blunted end of a baseball bat
the pucker of a smooth stone peeking out of the earth
Me with the sex of wet hay, hair of kinky down
and again the sex of a beast quieted
by the sound of melting snow
Me with the legs of the horizon
the feet of my mother’s heart
and the little toe of a jellybean
Me with the arms of a strong brown bag
With the palms of a wrinkled stamp
and the fingers of a broom
Me with the heart of terra cotta on fire
With the heart of a leaking pen that puddles
in my palm just before a handshake
Me with a heart that strokes night into pulse
